The Minnesota football program took its first loss of the 2025 season on Saturday night in Berkeley, California, a 27-14 loss to theCalifornia Golden Bears. Despite the loss, there were several promising individual performances.

The teams traded TDs in the third quarter with Drake Lindsey giving Minnesota the lead with a 3-yard pass to Jameson Geers and Sagapolutele answering with a 9-yarder to Mason Mini that put Cal up 17-14 in the closing seconds of the third quarter.

The last time that Minnesota and Cal played each other was during the 2009 season. The Golden Bears won that meeting 35-21. Kickoff will be at 10:30 p.m. ET on Sept. 13 on ESPN.
