WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — For the first time this season, Virginia Tech men's basketball fell on United States soil. Prior to Saturday's showdown vs. Wake Forest, the Hokies sat at 12-2, their lone two stumbles coming against Saint Mary's and VCU in the semifinal and third-place games of the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, respectively.
In the second half, the Hokies would surge, and every time they were within one possession, Wake Forest would hit a big shot. Nate Calmese was generally making the big shots, and he tied Bedford with 25 points to lead all scorers. It was Calmese who would hit the big three late.
