49ers' Kyle Shanahan ‘pretty confident' Brock Purdy will play again this season
San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is "pretty confident" that quarterback Brock Purdy will return from injury in the 2025 NFL season.
The 49ers cannot afford for Purdy to be hurt long-term, which is probably why Shanahan has chosen instead to be cautious with the signal caller. The star quarterback might just need a couple more weeks to fully heal, which shouldn't be an issue for the team.
The San Francisco 49ers are competing for a division title in the NFC West, currently a half game behind the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams for first place. The quarterback controversy between Brock Purdy and Mac Jones has left head coach Kyle Shanahan with a dilemma. With Purdy missing time through injury, Jones, a former first-round pick, has been able to thrive. Purdy is reportedly nearing a return from the injured reserve, but the 49ers staff may still want outsiders to believe he’s hurt.
