Partial SNAP funding coming to Michigan, says MDHHS
Michigan will gain partial SNAP funding for November starting Saturday as federal government shutdown continues.
Saturday, Nov. 8. This is in response to the federal government reducing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, to about 50% of recipients' payments for November during the shutdown.
Michigan lawmakers aren’t ruling out further food aid dollars as the federal government resumes issuing partial SNAP benefits Saturday.
State representatives joined volunteers to prepare Pop-Tarts and non-perishables as calls for help have nearly doubled at local food banks.
The Trump administration said it would make partial payments for SNAP though when recipients would see benefits and how much remains unclear.
