Injuries have been reported after a UPS plane crashed near the Louisville International Airport on Tuesday, officials said.

A UPS cargo plane with three people on board crashed shortly after takeoff near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky on Tuesday evening, the Louisville police said.

So far, seven people are confirmed to have died and 11 more have been injured - but those numbers could rise significantly.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several flights were cancelled Friday at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) after an order from the Federal Aviation Administration. Louisville Airport Spokesperson Natalie Chaudoin said 10 total flights were cancelled, most of which were to large airports with multiple other flights scheduled.

“We can’t ignore it,” he said, adding that even if the shutdown ends before Friday, the FAA wouldn’t automatically resume normal operations until staffing improves and stabilizes.
