California voters have passed Proposition 50, CBS News projects, approving a measure backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative Democrats that will redraw the state's congressional districts.
Proposition 50, a ballot measure about redrawing the state’s congressional districts, was crafted by Democrats in response to Trump urging Texas and other GOP-majority states to modify their congressional maps to favor Republicans, a move that was designed to maintain Republican control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The latest vote tally by the county registrar of voters on Wednesday evening, Nov. 5, showed support for the ballot measure with a pretty significant lead: 436,208 ballots (or 54.81%) were yes votes on Proposition 50, while 359,718 (45.19%) were cast in opposition to the ballot measure.
