President Donald Trump said on Thursday that his administration is making efforts to gain control of Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base, though he provided no details on how exactly the U.S. would regain control. U.S. control of the base reverted back to the Taliban after the U.S. rapidly pulled out forces in 2021.

The Army said in a statement that the crash happened in a rural area near Joint Base Lewis-McChord at approximately 9 p.m. local time Wednesday. The four servicemembers were assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), the Army said.
